Professor Zimou Tan Hosts 'Art and Faith' Seminar at San Francisco Campus
Olivet School of Art and Design Associate Dean Professor Zimou Tan was invited to host a special seminar with students at Olivet University's San Francisco campus. The center of discussion was "Art and Faith" which introduced students to what is art and how to differentiate particular works inspired by the gospels.
During the presentation, Professor Tan shared a timeline of images from the Stone Age era to the modern age. By using many examples, he demonstrated how art is able to communicate with people beyond the limits of time. In fact, students attending the seminar were able to comprehend the messages intended by the artists from 1,000 to 100,000 years ago.
The seminar concluded with an open-floor discussion where students and Professor Tan actively exchanged ideas. Due to the success of the event, OSAD's Professor Tan will plan to host the next seminar sharing based on the topic The art history of San Francisco's Bay Area.
